Dancing and Safety
When it comes to my favorite hobby, and not just a hobby, but already a way of life, of course, the least I want to focus on unpleasant moments. But I will. Because people who are just starting to dance or barely started and have already got burned, should know the truth and be able to separate the actual dance and unscrupulous people who these dances – I can not find another word – trade. After all, everyone has the right to deal with the best side of dancing.
At the very beginning of my dance career, I studied dance resources on the Internet with great interest – both in my city and in other cities and countries. And once got on a forum well-known in St. Petersburg dance schools. Flipped through for fun. The forum was not especially busy, but one topic on the move caught my attention. The girl talked about how she came to school for a stretching lesson, and she, unprepared, without a warm-up and in General any experience of such exercises, was immediately put on the splits. The result – a rupture of ligaments, a long treatment at that time, and what was next – is unknown. Administrators, apparently, in the end caught on and rubbed the topic.
The phenomenon seems out of the ordinary, but in fact it is a sad routine. The explanation is very simple – in large schools with a multi-format and teachers, and students are put on stream, individual or simply responsible approach to learning is either not possible or possible in very rare cases. Of course, no one will deliberately maim people. But the anonymity and irresponsibility of doing their job.
There are also “small” phenomena of this nature. Few people pay attention to basic safety even in the same salsa and bachata. It would seem – but what’s so terrible? Think of it, hands waving, think of the elbows in all directions fly, not deadly. Big deal, support made and dropped… Mm? Yes? Having received a blow to the temple from a partner from another school during the dance, which he did not even notice and did not consider it necessary to apologize, I realized that I was not interested in such “stormy” dances.
There are even such little things that you can not notice, but lose at the same time because of them any craving for dancing for a long time, if not forever.
Once upon a time, at the dawn of our school, we struggled to match the proud title of the school of Latin American dance, and took to teach Cuban (then being sure that all Cubans dance from birth). When it without any warm-up had a tough reggaeton and the next day half of our students did not attend classes due to back pain, we, of course, immediately said goodbye to her and made appropriate conclusions. Yes, even such a seemingly insignificant thing as a mandatory warm-up before dancing (which is so fond of being late for some fans of “hardcore”), affects how pleasant and effective (and painless) will be the subsequent training.
In General, friends, dancing – it’s great! This is really very cool, but only on condition that the partners have mutual respect and care for each other (raised not without the participation of the teacher). If you do not consider the huge health benefits, as we have repeatedly written, and others, and the surge of energy that allows the mountains to collapse, it is still very, very uplifting. What we just do not try to resort, so as not to fall into depression – heavy training in the gym, delicious, but little useful food, hanging on the Internet, and other ineffective things. Meanwhile, as the dances are even seasonal Blues away in an instant. Actually, it can be seen even by the expression with which people come to the dance, and what they then leave.
Very, very much want you to always open only the good side of the dance, and do not be disappointed if you suddenly stumbled upon the mountain instructors. Yes, as elsewhere, they are. You just need to carefully observe, evaluate and continue to look for your own. And dancing, and teachers. And then what should bring joy will bring it. Dance, and be happy!
